Kailash K Shrestha

Artist
Kailash K Shrestha, a contemporary artist and curator hailing from Kathmandu, is lauded for his thought-provoking artworks that offer critical insight into the intricate socio-political landscapes of Nepal. As the founder of Artudio, he has been instrumental in advancing contemporary art practices, exhibitions, artists’ residencies, and visual arts education, taking it beyond the confines of the white cube to connect with grassroots communities and public spaces. Shrestha has curated a range of noteworthy art projects, including “Dolakha Album,” a community homestay art residency & exhibition, “Ekatako Bhiito,” The Wall of Unity, and “Rivers of the world.” He has been honored with the distinguished Australian Himalayan Foundation’s Art Award, establishing him as one of the first Nepali artists to receive this prestigious accolade. His works have been featured in several highly acclaimed events, such as the Kathmandu International Art Festival, Kathmandu Triennale, and Asian Art Biennale. Through his invaluable contributions to the art world, he inspires and mentors the next generation of artists, fostering a thriving creative community in Nepal.

Krisha Tamrakar is an artist whose work blends contemporary themes with personal experiences, deeply influenced by cultural history. Her art explores change, growth, and the beauty in everyday life, using these elements as the foundation for her creative expression. Central to Krisha’s work is visual storytelling, where she shares personal narratives and invites others to connect with her stories. Through metaphorical explorations of human emotions, she creates art that resonates with the complexities of our shared experiences. Krisha works with bookmaking and paintings using mixed media, and digital painting. These diverse mediums allow her to craft narratives that are both personal and universally impactful, offering a unique and meaningful artistic experience.

Mukti Singh Thapa stands as one of Nepal’s foremost master artists, renowned for his dedication to traditional processes in the realm of contemporary art. Widely credited with the revival of the historic Newari Paubha Art style from the 13th to 16th centuries, Mukti Singh Thapa has mastered both the intricate iconography and the stylistic nuances of this period, alongside the Tibetan styles that emerged in the 17th century. His work bridges the timeless and the modern, boldly reinterpreting these classical forms in a contemporary context, making him a pivotal figure in the preservation and evolution of Nepalese artistic heritage.

He has been recognized for his ability to capture the details of his subjects while maintaining a sense of realism and abstraction.
