An overwhelming number of over 450 school children participated in the event along with professional visual artists of Nepal. With the same initiative, we are up for a second artistic celebration of this awareness campaign with the slogan “Clean Hands Save Lives” with 50 School Students and Artists. Further, the boundary wall of the Tri-Chandra College painted by the participants will be declared as the “Hand Washing Wall”.WASHING HANDS FOR HEALTHY LIVES :
Washing hands with soap is among the most effective and inexpensive ways to prevent diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia, which together are responsible for the deaths of over 3.5 million children under the age of 5 every year. In developed countries, hand washing helps to prevent the spread of viral infections, such as norovirus, rotavirus and influenza.Although people around the world rinse their hands with water, many do not wash their hands with soap at critical moments, including after going to the toilet and before handling or eating food. The challenge is to transform hand washing with soap from an abstract good idea into an automatic behavior carried out in homes, schools, workplaces and communities.
WHY CELEBRATE HAND WASHING DAY WITH ART?
Global Hand Washing Day is the centerpiece of a week of activities that aim to mobilize millions of people to wash their hands with soap. This simple activity could save more lives than any vaccine or medical intervention, preventing the spread of infection and keeping children healthy. We believe this art project is going to make a revolutionary step to promote the social awareness of the simple practice of Hand Washing in a creative way and provide the young minds with a creative platform to share and express their understanding and ideas among the public in public space.
