About the Artist:
Gerda Liudvinavičiūtė is a Lithuanian artist focused on reimagining human beings and other life forms. With degrees in product design, psychology, and health studies, she merges her knowledge into her artistic research as a Ph.D. candidate in Design at Vilnius Academy of Arts. Gerda explores the concept of wandering through the lens of the vagus nerve, which she describes as “a beast-like creature that controls us from within.” Through rituals centered on our bodies, she invites us to rethink the forms of human existence and life. She asks: how can we be sure our thoughts are truly ours when much of our bodies are composed of non-human colonists on whom we depend? Let’s wander through the space with her.
