Meet Our November Resident Artist: Gerda Liudvinavičiūtė from Lithuania at Artudio

We are thrilled to introduce Gerda Liudvinavičiūtė, our resident artist of November 2024 as part of Artudio’s International Artists in Residency Program. Gerda is a Lithuanian artist whose work pushes the boundaries of human and non-human forms, inviting us to rethink the essence of existence. With an impressive background in product design, psychology, and health studies, Gerda’s interdisciplinary approach enriches her artistic research. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Design at Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she’s deepening her exploration of human nature and embodiment.

Gerda’s unique perspective delves into the concept of “wandering” through the enigmatic role of the vagus nerve, which she evocatively describes as “a beast-like creature that controls us from within.” Her rituals, centered on our physical beings, prompt us to reconsider who we are. Are our thoughts truly our own? Or are we guided by the vast network of non-human life forms within us, upon which we depend?

Join us in this journey and experience Gerda’s exploration of life’s intricate forms. Let her art guide you into unfamiliar territories of self-awareness and interconnectedness.
