Exhibition Overview
The exhibition In Between the Unseen brings together two of Nepal’s most distinctive contemporary voices and Artudio Founders and Co-Directors—Kailash K Shrestha and Krisha Tamrakar—in their first duo presentation in Zurich. Co-presented by the Swiss Nepal Chamber of Commerce (SNCC) and HeLai Art Gallery, the exhibition establishes a significant cultural dialogue between Nepal and Switzerland, situating Nepali contemporary practices within an expanded global discourse.
Through painting, mixed media, interactive installation and image-based practices, the artists navigate the terrain of the unseen—interrogating identity, memory, and perception. Their works extend dialogue beyond geographic borders, while remaining deeply rooted in the layered complexities of the Nepali context.
Artistic Practices
Kailash K Shrestha

In his ongoing Phantasmal Series, Shrestha examines the unstable terrain between illusion and reality, presence and absence, repetition and erasure. Employing repetition and glitch-inspired visual strategies, his works unsettle familiar images of sociopolitical life in Nepal, revealing their fragility and spectral undercurrents. His practice navigates between historical memory and contemporary disorientation, suggesting that what we see is never fixed, but always haunted by what resists visibility.
Krisha Tamrakar

Tamrakar’s body of work, Between Colors and Spaces, explores the subtleties of memory, place, and transformation. Through layered imagery and sensitive use of color, her works meditate on the tension between traditional spaces and modern consumerist influences. At once deeply personal and universally resonant, her practice captures the imperceptible shifts of daily life, uncovering growth and stillness in overlooked spaces of existence.
Together, Shrestha and Tamrakar’s practices generate a dialogue that is at once intimate and expansive, poetic and critical. In Between the Unseen situates their works as sites of encounter where what is hidden, erased, or displaced becomes momentarily legible.
Cultural Significance
By presenting Nepal’s two prominent artists in Zurich, SNCC and HeLai Art Gallery extend their ongoing commitment to building meaningful networks between Nepal and the Swiss art ecosystem. The exhibition not only introduces audiences to thriving Nepali contemporary practices but also frames them within a transnational conversation on art, identity, and perception.
