Sworup’s artistic journey began in school, where he painted social awareness boards to earn pocket money. He also hustled by creating hand-painted postcards and selling his paintings to make ends meet. At 19, he launched his professional career as a storyboard artist at an animation studio, and soon after, he joined The Kathmandu Post as their in-house illustrator, a role he held for over three years. At just 20, Sworup played a pivotal role in redesigning the newspaper and later went on to lead its creative department. During his time there, he also contributed articles on art happenings in Nepal. His career continued to evolve as he took on the role of Art Director at Himal Southasian, illustrated a Nepal-based comic book, and contributed weekly illustrations to Republica Daily. Sworup also worked on redesigning leading national dailies such as Annapurna Post and Karobar Dainik, as well as international platforms like Citiscope.org. Over his 15+ years in the creative industry, Sworup has illustrated, painted, designed, and taught. His career then shifted toward advertising and marketing when he joined one of Nepal’s leading advertising powerhouses. Today, he continues to illustrate, paint, design, photograph, write, and direct video commercials. Believing that there are no limits to creative expression, Sworup has now incorporated AI tools into his work, expanding his creative possibilities even further.
