Artudio is excited to announce that artists Niroj Bade and Saphal Ram Shrestha have been chosen for the Artudio Artists in Residency Program 2024. This prestigious program offers an invaluable opportunity for artists to develop their work in a stimulating and resource-rich environment.
Niroj Bade, born in 1988 in Nagadesh, Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur, Nepal, is deeply influenced by his roots in a historical farming community. His fascination with cultural beauty, traditional festivals, and dances is reflected in his art, which often incorporates traditional knowledge in contemporary techniques and themes. Holding an MFA from Tribhuvan University, Niroj works primarily with oil and acrylic paints. His recent focus is on the ethics of farming, aiming to preserve and share the traditional agricultural knowledge of his community. During his residency, Niroj will continue to explore these themes while engaging with both local and international audiences.
Saphal Ram Shrestha, born in 1998 in Kathmandu, brings a distinctive perspective shaped by his education at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. His work is known for its personal and thought-provoking nature, reflecting a deep connection to his surroundings and an introspective approach to art. Saphal views art as a means to express complex emotions and ideas, continually pushing the boundaries of his practice. His residency at Artudio will allow him to experiment with new techniques and further develop his unique artistic style and practice.
Both artists will take full advantage of Artudio’s comprehensive resources, including dedicated studio space and accommodations, to drive their creative endeavors. With expert mentorship from leading art professionals and the opportunity to pursue innovative projects, their residency is poised to make a substantial impact, bringing fresh perspectives and influential contributions to the contemporary art scene.
