Artwork from the Dolakha Album, a short-term curated community art residency, held in Gairimudi, Dolakha, is currently on display at the premises of Artudio in Swayambhu in the Capital. The exhibit was inaugurated on Friday, August 12.

The residency was curated by Kailash K Shrestha and was co-curated by Nischal Oli.

The residency featured artists Sujan Dangol, who during the residency showcased his installation art, titled Dhunga, made out of materials scavenged from the locality during his residency; visual artist Sandhya Silwal, who created cut-out portraits and shadow play; sound-based multimedia artist Rajan Shrestha, who showcased a video that featured portraits of women in Gairimudi accompanied with an electronic soundscape performed by local musicians Nasu Damai, Kalyan Nepal and Shrestha himself. The exhibition also features film artist Abhimanyu Dixit, printmaker Surendra Maharjan, and local artisan Chabi Bahadur Shrestha.

The opening event at Artudio also saw the screening of a documentary that filmed the ins and outs of the residency.  The Dolakha Album was hosted by Artudio and was supported by Siddhartha Art Foundation Education Initiatives and Buddha Kumari Foundation.

The exhibition will continue until August 20.
