Street/Public Art

Public | Street Art Initiatives

Artudio’s Street/Public Art Initiative aims to transform urban spaces into vibrant, interactive environments that foster community engagement and creative expression. By bringing art to public spaces, this initiative makes art accessible to all, turning streets, walls, and buildings into canvases that reflect culture, identity, and social dialogue. Artudio encourages collaboration between artists and local communities, promoting a deeper connection with art and enhancing the urban landscape through creative interventions.
Bal Kala Sangrahalaya (BKS) is a global initiative dedicated to celebrating and preserving the artistic creations of children and youth aged 2 and above from around the world. Since 2011, our project has aimed to document, appreciate, and share these unique works through a virtual archive, offering a platform that respects and honors each child’s artistic expression. Our global mission is to support the emotional well-being and personal development of young artists by showcasing their artistic and personal growth. By providing equal opportunities and promoting inclusivity, we strive to bridge gaps and reduce inequalities across diverse communities. BKS actively contributes to enhancing educational experiences and fostering creativity while building collaborative networks and strengthening international connections. Through these efforts, we seek to inspire children and teens to unlock their full potential, engage with their communities, and become future leaders, all while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals on a global scale.

Nepal Art Archive

The Nepal Art Archive Project is an initiative dedicated to documenting and preserving the works and stories of Nepali artists. By creating a comprehensive digital and physical archive, the project aims to celebrate the rich artistic heritage of Nepal, providing access to the creative journeys of artists across generations. This archive serves as a vital resource for researchers, art enthusiasts, and future generations, ensuring that the contributions of Nepali artists are recognized and remembered in the global art landscape.

Healing Through Art

The “Healing Through Art” initiative began after the massive earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015, with the aim of supporting communities, children, youth, and adults affected by the disaster. It has since evolved into a safe and creative space for individuals from various communities who feel suppressed and lack a voice to express themselves. Art, as a therapeutic process, has the unique power to heal, offering a transformative space for self-expression, reflection, and growth. Through this initiative, participants engage with art to process trauma, emotional distress, and mental health challenges, finding solace, release, and a sense of renewal. This creative outlet not only aids in healing but also empowers individuals on their journey to mental well-being, serving as a vital tool for recovery and personal growth.
The Pran Community Art Center serves as a vibrant hub for creativity and collaboration in Gairimudi, Dolakha. Established by Artudio after the 2015 earthquake, the center focuses on empowering local residents through artistic expression and community engagement. It provides workshops, art classes, and exhibitions, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging the development of skills among participants. Through its initiatives, the Pran Community Art Center aims to promote healing, cultural exchange, and the revitalization of the local community.
Dolakha Album: A short term curated community home-stay art residency was a short-term residency curated by visual artist Kailash K Shrestha of Artudio. It was hosted in Gairimudi, Dolakha between 3 – 12 May, 2016. The primary goal of the platform was to integrate artistic process and creations into the context of the setting. Installation, new media and multimedia artists were selected by the curator to travel to the village, where they conducted research and created works to reflect their understanding of the complex realities of life in rural Nepal, post-earthquakes of 2015. While no thematic restrictions were levied, artists were limited to material found in the community. Further, each artist was hosted by a community resident affected by the earthquake and strategic encounters with the community were facilitated under the supervision of the curator.
Artudio’s education initiative, ArtScool, creates a unique platform for learning and sharing, offering an alternative space that nurtures both the mind and heart. Through workshops, masterclasses, camps, and other interactive experiences, ArtScool provides individuals with the opportunity to explore and develop their artistic talents in a supportive environment. Focused on fostering creativity and self-expression, ArtScool encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and emotional growth, helping participants connect with their inner creativity while broadening their understanding of art as a means of personal transformation and career that also transforms the society and world at large.
